Ms. Barksdale uses a combination of Cognitive Behavioral and Nutritional Counseling. She works with clients on healthy eating as they are working through the issues that are really important. Food is not the focus. Ms Barksdale is in practice with a physician so there are other options offered such as medical evaluation if necessary. She also works closely with a local psychiatrist and nutritionist.

Ms Barksdale treats all forms of eating disorders in women. Ms Barksdale also works with Compulsive Exercisers, Binge Eating Disorder, Obesity, Food Addiction, Night Eating Syndrome, Compulsive Overeating, Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD).

Marcia Barksdale has a License for Professional Counseling in Mississippi and a National Board of Counselor Certification. She is from New Orleans where she taught junior high learning-disabled students for six years before getting her Master's degree in Biblical Counseling. She has been working with women with eating disorders for over twenty years. Marcia's practice is in The Island's Center for Women in Ocean Springs, MS.
